Revenir I & II                                                         Dylan Lardelli

The first 'Revenir' from Dylan was written for Saxcess when he was finishing his studies at Victoria University School of Music, and was premiered in Wellington Cathedral alongside the quartet of Ida Gotkovsky. The group liked the piece so much that they commissioned a second Revenir which was premiered at the School of Music in the lunch concert series. Dylan's writing for the saxes is excellent- though it does present some challenges- infact making the pieces that much more satisfying to perform.

HONK!                                                                      Michael Norris

                    I Honky-Tonk

                    II Go the Whole Honk

                    III Honk-It Hocket

Honk is a favourite work for the quartet. It receives inspiration from, of all things, car horns. (If that isn't flattering to the saxophonist, I don't know what is). A great amount of fun, especially when looking for a bit of light, but still substantial relief in a quartet concert. Our student quartet has performed this a number of times.

Short Suite for Saxophone Quartet                     Philip Norman

This suite is in 5 movements, and though maybe not the best possible work for a serious classical repertoire concert, it is an excellent audience pleaser, and performing it with our student quartet- with the work standing up well alongside the likes of Schmitt and Scarlatti.
